Personal Information and Confidentiality
Protecting your privacy is important to us. We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act when handling Personal Information.
Personal information is any information about an identified individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether the information is true or not and whether the information is recorded in a material form or not.

In this Privacy Policy the expressions “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the Institute. The expressions “you” and “your” refer to each individual whose Personal Information we may handle from time to time where we are required to comply with the Privacy Act in respect of such Personal Information. “Privacy Policy” means this document as amended from time to time.
What is Personal Information?
Personal Information means any information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable:
- whether the information or opinion is true or not; and
- whether the information or opinion is recorded in a material form or not.
Some Personal Information may include Sensitive Information. Sensitive Information has the meaning as set out in the Privacy Act, and includes health information.
The type of Personal Information we collect includes:
(a) name; and
(b) email address
How do we collect your Personal Information?
We collect personal information if you email yourself pages from the website using a form. The details you enter into the form is recorded in the website database following a form submission. Personal information entered into the form such as a user’s name or email address is temporarily stored for a maximum time of 60 minutes before being automatically deleted. Your email address will only be recorded temporarily if you choose to email a copy to yourself. This will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and will not be added to a mailing list or for any other purposes. The research team will never have access to these personal details and will never be able to see your name or email address.
To whom do we disclose your Personal Information?
We do not share your information with any third parties.
Website usage information
When you browse the Cyber Friendly Primary Schools web site, you do so anonymously. We typically log your IP address (the Internet address of your computer) to give us an idea of which pages you visited, length of visit, number of downloads, route of navigation through the website and devices used to access the website (i.e. desktop, tablet, mobile phone). However, we do not link your IP address to anything personally identifiable.
The Cyber Friendly Primary website contains links or references to other websites and applications to which this Privacy Policy does not apply. Participants will need to check the respective website and application privacy policies before providing their personal information.
